How to Get a Church for a Wedding
- 1). Go to church services at your chosen venue, if at all possible. This will help you get a feel for the church's layout for decorating purposes while helping you get to know the different preaching styles of the clergy. This way you will be able to select a minister whose demeanor best suits your wedding vision.
- 2). Meet with the head of your church to discuss your wedding plans. Negotiate an available date early on in your planning process, particularly if you intend to wed during peak wedding season -- the late spring and early summer months.
- 3). Attend premarital counseling. This process is required by many religious organizations before couples walk down the aisle. It helps the minister ensure that the couple is prepared for marriage while allowing them some time to focus on their relationship.
- 4). Negotiate a fee for the minister's services and the use of the church. Not all religious institutions require this, but many encourage a contribution to the building's upkeep.
