Meet Snooki

Snooki, a.k.a. Nicole Polizzi, is famous for her role in the MTV "reality" series, Jersey Shore. Her ridiculous hairstyle makes Snooki a perfect person to emulate for Halloween. Here's how to make your very own "Snooki".

Gather Your Tools

Creating a "Snooki" is actually pretty simple. You'll need a flat iron (or super straight hair), some really firm hairspray, a comb, and 5-6 bobby pins.

Flat Iron Your Hair

Unless your hair is already super straight, you'll want to flat iron your hair before you get started creating your poof.

Begin to Build Your Snookie Poof

To start building your "Snooki", take a section of hair just beyond your fringe/bangs that is 2-4 inches wide and about 1/4" thick. Spray the back of the section with hairspray, and use your comb to tightly back-comb/tease the hair until you have built a thick cushion of hair from which to build upon.

Build Upon Your Base

Your first section of teased hair will be the base on which you will build your "Snooki". Take a 1/4" section of hair behind the first section of hair and, holding the sections together as one, spray with hairspray and back-comb/tease the back of your new section. Continue building your poof one 1/4" section at a time. Each section should be sprayed with hairspray prior to teasing to ensure that your back-combing stays in place.

Continue Teasing

Continue adding small sections of hair until the entire top and crown of your head is thoroughly back-combed. Remember, this is Snooki; the bigger, the better. The more exaggerated your poof, the funnier (and frankly, more realistic) your costume will be.

Finish Teasing

When you are finished back-combing your hair, it should look something like this. It will be quite a mess, but don't worry. We'll fix that in the next step.

Smooth Hair

Next, using your comb, smooth the top and sides of your teased hair to create a smooth finish.

Twist and Pin

When you have smoothed over the top of your teased hair, gather the ends into a pony tail and gently twist and pin into the crown of your head.

Final Touches

When you are done pinning, the back should look something like this. If you have trouble getting the finished look to stay, try using a claw clip instead of bobby pins.

After your hair is pinned, be sure to spray the entire poof well. If your hair isn't already dark, you could use a black or dark brown colored hairspray to get a more authentic "Snooki". I recommend using the colored hairspray after your "Snooki" is complete, rather than before.

Now, a heavy eyeliner, an obscene amount of bronzer, and a trashy outfit and you'll be set for a Jersey Shore style Halloween of epic proportions.
