How to Kill Non-Toxic Tree Roots

    • 1). Dig into the soil with a shovel around the tree stump's perimeter to start exposing the roots. Work until you can see the roots completely around the stump.

    • 2). Sever all the visible roots with an ax. If some of the roots are too tough to cut with the ax, use a pruning saw or root saw.

    • 3). Pull the roots from the ground. If some of the roots won't pull easily from the ground, use a grub hoe to extract the root. Continue working until you remove all the roots from the ground.
