Thrissur - The Cultural Capital of Kerala

Thrissur district in Kerala is located in the central part of the state. It is a cultural center, with a long history, dating back to the Tamil Sangam Era. Thrissur has served as the entry point into India for people from Europe and the middle east.

Thrissur is at Sea level and covers an area of more than 3000 square kilometers. It has a coastline of 54 kilometers on its western border, along the Arabian Sea. The region has a typical coastal climate, hot and humid. It experiences good rains during the monsoon. Thrissur attracts a lot of tourists during the Thrissur Pooram Festival, in April-May. This festival attracts a huge number of pilgrims. It also attracts tourists who come to witness the colorful spectacle.

The River Retreat is located in Cheruthuruthy on the Banks of the Bharathappuzha River. It is located near Kalamandalam and the Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam. Shornur Railway Station is just a few minutes away. The River Retreat was previously the Summer Palace of the Cochin Maharaja. It has now been converted into an Ayurvedic resort.
