- 1). Remove the debris in your flower beds, including piles of wood, trash, rocks, compost and old boards. These can serve as shelters for spiders to hide.
- 2). Wear gloves and grab a tissue when you see a spider, then remove it by hand. Alternatively, you can use a vacuum cleaner to remove it. This protects you from poisoning.
- 3). Spray your flower beds with water from a high-pressure hose if your plants can withstand it. This removes spiders, their webs and their egg sacs.
- 4). Place sticky traps meant for cockroaches and rodents in your flower beds, especially areas where you have previously seen spiders. When you catch a spider, replace the trap with a new one.
- 5). Spray the spiders with an aerosol insecticide meant for flying insects. This kills the spiders on contact. For protection that lasts longer, spray a residual insecticide, such as crack and crevice sprays. You can use a product that contains pyrethroids as the active ingredient.
