The parks in and around Boise provide great places to play, to exercise, to spend time outdoors, and to attend community events. Visitors will definitely want to spend some quality time exploring one or more local parks. Boise's best parks include:
Ann Morrison Park
If you're looking for a place to get out and work off some energy, Ann Morrison Park is the place for you. Another vast park on the Boise River, this city park is packed with sports and play facilities of all kinds. Soccer fields, tennis courts, and ball fields are joined by a disc-golf course and an outdoor gym. If you're ready to take it easy, there are picnic spots, a fountain, statues, and gardens.
Julia Davis Park
This vast park, located adjacent to downtown Boise and across the river from Boise State University, is a community favorite. It is a hub of indoor and outdoor attractions and includes the Boise Art Museum, the Discovery Center, Zoo Boise, and the Idaho State History Museum. The large Rose Garden, duck pond, and riverfront trails make great places to walk and wander. If you're looking for some activity, there are tennis courts, bocce ball courts, horseshoe pits, a children's playground, and lots of open lawn.
Veterans Memorial Park
Filled with walking paths, war monuments, and play areas, the tree-filled Boise's Veterans Memorial Park is a fine place to wander and spend time with friends and family. The park is located on the Boise River and is part of the Boise River Greenbelt.
Eagle Island State Park
Located west of Boise, this 545-acre Idaho State Park lies on an island between channels of the Boise River. The opportunities for river recreation include SUP, paddling, swimming, and fishing. On land you can enjoy picnicking, disc golf, volleyball, horse back riding, hiking trails, a waterslide, and historic structures.
