Army Recruitment Strategies

    Pamphlets

    • The Army promotes career opportunities for soldiers by distributing informational pamphlets at a variety of places, including courthouses, state offices and college campuses. The literature lists all the benefits soldiers can expect to receive, the possible job postings and a variety of exciting training opportunities. The point is to offer as much information to as many people as possible and sell the Army as a great career opportunity.

    Job Fairs

    • The Army also participates in job fairs. Because of its divergent needs, the Army recruits people from a large number of backgrounds. Criminal justice majors, for instance, might be interested in joining the military police, and there's always a need for medical officers, who may come from nursing or medical schools. The Army also uses job fairs to recruit for the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, which offers ways for college students to earn money for school while at the same time working toward becoming a second lieutenant in the Army.

    Recruitment Centers

    • Recruitment centers serve as billboards, advertising the presence of the Army in the middle of civilian life. Officers on recruitment duty are familiar with the various positions within the Army and usually have good communication skills. Recruitment centers are staffed by officers whose only duty is to discuss potential Army careers and service with people. Whether potential recruits come into the recruitment center or the recruitment officers find a list and call potential recruits doesn't matter. The recruiter's job is to get whoever they're talking to interested in signing up for the Army.
