How to Spot Fake Marine Corps Uniforms

    • 1). Look for buttons on the front of the combat fatigues. Most branches of the military switched to Velcro several years ago. If the fatigues are button-down, you will know right away you're looking at a fake.

    • 2). Spot the American Flag on the right shoulder of the combat fatigues. Make sure the stars are facing forward. Stars on the left side of the flag are incorrect for a Marine Corps uniform.

    • 3). Inspect the company insignia on the shoulder. All combat fatigues will have this insignia.

    • 4). Check out the buttons on the dress uniforms. There should be three at each wrist cuff.

    • 5). Look to see if the trim of the dress uniform is red, matching the rank insignia on the uniform shoulders. The red will run down the front of the uniform, around the collar and on the shoulders.
