Portable toilets are a component of many job sites. There are laws regarding how these portable toilets should be operated that must be taken into consideration by employers. Each state has its own regulations. If laws are not followed, the employer can be reported to the state of Texas and its administration. - Portable toilets should be furnished for each sex unless the number of employees totals less than 15. In that case, a single toilet that can be used by both sexes is allowable. Depending on the total number of workers, the employer should use its own discretion in deciding how many toilets will be needed on the particular job site.
- The portable toilet must be clean and easy to maintain, have toilet paper readily accessible and be equipped with a door, a lock and a wall between toilets to keep a sense of privacy intact.
- The actual toilet seat must be made of a certain type of material that does not absorb liquids.
- The portable toilets must either be ventilated by a machine or some type of screen. Ventilation must be provided for each toilet.
- The waste tank shall be constructed so the waste is routed to the outside of the structure holding the toilet. It must be easy to maintain cleanliness around the actual structure.
