How to Add Monograms to Your Serveware and Glassware

Use monograms to add a personal touch to your favorite serveware and glassware. Monogrammed tableware can make for the perfect table settings for a formal dinner party. Use them for engagement parties, wedding receptions or anniversary dinners. The designs can be as simple or as elegant as you want. Use these simple and easy-to-follow tips to add elegant monograms to your tableware.

Decide on a Design and Color
Look through different styles, fonts and colors until you find one that suits your tableware design. Swirly, handwritten fonts can enhance everyday tableware while streamlined, classic fonts are better suited to formal tableware.

Consider using a color from your tableware design for the monogram. Classic black or a metallic shade is always a good choice for logos. Use the same shade for your glasses to create a complete set of monogrammed tableware.

Adding Monograms to Your Glassware
You will need glass paint, paint thinner, an outline applicator, cotton balls and rubbing alcohol. Outline applicators give you greater control when sketching the monogram.

Clean the surface of your glass using cotton balls and rubbing alcohol. Add the glass paint to your applicator and add thinner until the paint reaches the right consistency. Doodle on a piece of scrap paper until you are able to achieve steady, confident strokes.

Sketch the monogram on your glass and let the glassware dry overnight. Place the glasses on a cookie sheet and put them in a cold oven. Heat the oven to 325 degrees and bake for 40 minutes. Leave the glasses in the oven until they cool down to room temperature.

Adding Monograms to Your Serveware
Porcelain pens make it easy to add monograms to your ceramic and porcelain serveware. First, wash and dry your platters. Use the porcelain paint pen or applicator to sketch the monogram using slow, steady strokes. Use a damp cloth to make any changes. Let the trays and platters dry for 24 hours. Place them in an oven and bake according to the instructions given on the back of your paint bottle.

Create a complete set of monogrammed serveware and glassware for your table using these simple tips.
