Before there were today's panini presses, there was the Snackmaster. This user-friendly countertop appliance can turn ordinary bread and sandwich fillings into hot pockets of crispy crust and warm fillings. You can use almost any type of food to make a Snackmaster dish, from breakfast to dessert. Many newer versions of this grilling appliance are sold, but they all cook the same way as the original Snackmaster. - Butter one side of two slices of Italian bread squares. Lay one slice, butter side down, on the Snackmaster. Top the bread with cheese, pepperoni, chopped vegetables and a spoonful of marinara sauce. Finish with another slice of bread, butter-side up. Cook until golden brown for cheesy pizza pockets.
- Lay buttered white bread on the Snackmaster. Cover the bread with sliced chicken, sliced ham, sliced Swiss cheese and a dollop of brown mustard if desired. Add another slice of buttered white bread, close the top of the Snackmaster and cook.
- Scramble together eggs and some milk. Pour 1/4 cup of egg mixture into each triangle depression in the Snackmaster. Add chopped peppers, onions, ham or tomato and top with grated cheese. Close the lid, and cook for two minutes to create tasty omelets.
- Lay one slice of buttered white bread on the Snackmaster interior. Place 1 tbsp. full of apple or cherry pie filling onto the center of each triangle space. Sprinkle on chopped nuts, and cover with another slice of buttered bread. Close the lid, and cook to create handy snacks for packing in a lunchbox or for after school.
- Recreate the taste of pasties from northern climates. Butter slices of wheat bread, and lay one, butter-side down, on the Snackmaster grill. Spoon 1/4 cup of beef stew onto each triangular depression. Cover with another piece of buttered bread, and cook until brown and crispy.
