How to Make a Kids Play Tunnel with Old Skirts
- 1). Gather several old skirts, preferably with elastic at the waist. Lay them down on the floor bottom to top to get an idea of how long the tunnel will be. Add or take away skirts to make the tunnel longer. You can always cut the skirts in half to make the tunnel just a little bit shorter.
- 2). Cut the elastic out of the skirts so that the top and bottom of each skirt are nearly the same size.
- 3). Sew the skirts together, top to bottom, to form a tube. Use a sewing machine or stitch them together by hand.
- 4). Insert the hula hoops about every foot or so. Make a stitch around each hula hoop to hold them in place. You can also cut out a piece of fabric that is as long as the radius of the hula hoop and about 5 inches wide. Place it on top of the hula hoop inside the tube and make a running stitch on either side of the hula hoop so that it stays in place and protects your child from hitting the hula hoop.
- 5). Place the finished product on the floor of your home or in the backyard.
