How to Update a Motor Home Convection Oven

    Removal

    • 1). Shut off the oven's propane tank at the dial and disconnect the gas line from the tank using a wrench at the connection fitting.

    • 2). Disconnect the oven's electrical connector to the generator and any other electrical connectors on the outside of the RV.

    • 3). Turn on the stove to bleed out the remaining gas, then let the stove cool down and the vehicle's interior to air out. This will take at least five minutes.

    • 4). Open the oven's main door and remove the screws mounting the stove to the wall. There is a screw in each corner, and you may need a flashlight to see them.

    • 5). Cut away at the caulking material sealing the stove to the wall using a utility knife, then peel the caulk off with the flat of the knife.

    • 6). Lift/pull the oven away from the wall and disconnect the gas hose and electrical connectors in the back before carrying the oven out of the vehicle. This may require more than one person.

    Installation

    • 1). Install the replacement oven within its space in between the kitchen countertops, connecting it to the electrical connectors and the gas hose. If this is a drop-in range, connect its anti-tip brackets to the back end and make sure the range sits on the counter's metal flanges.

    • 2). Install the mounting screws in place, be they in the rear of the stove or along the sides, using your screwdriver or drill and screwdriver bit. Fasten any lower trim pieces using their screws.

    • 3). Install the oven door if it is not already attached, inserting the hinge notches into the slots at the bottom corners of the oven.

    • 4). Apply fresh caulking material to the edges of the oven using a caulking gun to seal the space between the wall and oven.

    • 5). Reconnect the electrical connectors and gas line on the outside of the RV and turn the propane back on.
