Floche

Definition:

Floche is a size 16 mercerized, single-strand embroidery thread made from long staple Egyptian cotton.

This lustrous thread has a soft, luxurious hand and is most commonly used in whitework, cutwork, openwork and needle painting.

Floche is composed of 5 plies which can't be separated. By comparison, a length of 6-strand embroidery floss has 6 individual threads that can be separated, and each thread has 2 plies.

The mercerization process gives floche a sheen that looks beautiful when working satin stitch, long and short stitch, and other dense embroidery filling stitches.

Floche is produced by DMC and is available in 20 solid colors in a 150-yard skein.
