Razor Bump Home Remedies
- Soak the hair you're about to shave with warm water for about five minutes before you begin shaving. Apply shaving cream and let it sit on your skin for a few minutes before you use your razor.
Wash your razor blade with alcohol before and after every use. Once you start shaving, avoid stretching your skin, as this can cause stubble to snap back during shaving, causing bumps. Never, ever shave against the grain. Instead, shave in the direction your hair is growing.
While shaving, don't go over the same area more than twice. Change your blade at least once a week, and if you have sensitive skin, try to shave every two or three days instead of daily. Once you finish shaving, rub alcohol or aftershave lotion onto your skin. If you see razor bumps, don't pick or squeeze them, as it could lead to infection. - This is a remedy that has been around for ages. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a cup. Dip a cotton ball into the juice and dab it over your irritated skin. Let the juice dry for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water. Do this every time you shave.
- Get a leaf from an aloe vera plant or buy a product containing aloe vera from a drugstore. If you have the leaf, cut it in half and squeeze the gel onto your irritated skin. Rub it into the skin and let it dry for 15 minutes. Rinse the gel off with warm water. Repeat this process daily, as aloe vera has many skin-healing properties.
- Crush four to five uncoated aspirins and combine with warm water to form a runny, paste-like mixture. Rub the paste on your newly shaved areas and let it dry for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water.
- Mash two to four strawberries and mix them with one spoon of sour cream. Apply immediately after shaving and leave on for 10 minutes. Do this twice a week for fresh, soft skin.
