How to Get Rid of Set-In Laundry Stains
- 1). Put on protective gloves.
- 2). Make a paste with 1 tbsp of oxygen bleach powder and 1/2 cup of water.
- 3). Test the paste on an inconspicuous portion of the garment before applying to the stain. Blot the paste with a cotton cloth and let set for one minute. Rinse the area with a damp sponge. If no damage occurs to the fabric, continue with the cleaning procedure.
- 4). Apply the paste to the stained fabric with your finger and gently scrub the stain with a soft bristled brush.
- 5). Allow the paste to set on the fabric for one hour.
- 6). Add another dab of paste to the stained fabric and work the area again with a soft bristled brush.
- 7). Wash the garment in a washing machine with your regular laundry detergent and 1 tbsp of oxygen bleach powder.
- 1). Soak the stained area with cold water.
- 2). Rub the stain with a bar of mild non-additive soap. Allow to set for one minute.
- 3). Rinse the area with cold water. If the stain is not gone, continue to the next step.
- 4). Rub the stain again with the mild soap bar then soak in a sink of cold water with 1/2 cup of powdered laundry detergent for 30 minutes.
- 5). Remove the garment from the sink and wring out excess water. Rub a bit more soap onto the stain and scrub with a soft bristled brush. Rinse thoroughly.
