Table Decorating Themes
- Let the size of your table determine what types of decorations you'll use, and how many accents you'll need. For instance, if you're decorating a small kitchen table, a centerpiece of a medium-sized vase with decorative accents like synthetic cattails or bamboo shoots is ideal. These pieces are large enough to be noticed, but not too overwhelming for a table that isn't particularly spacious.
- Your table decorations can have special significance for you and your loved ones. For instance, create a centerpiece for the dining room table by displaying your family portrait in a quality frame, surrounded by a wreath of flowers. Or, allow your children to choose the table decorations based on their favorite fruit; if your kids love green apples, place the fruit in a wooden bowl for the middle of the table, and use charger plates and cloth napkins in the same color.
- If you're decorating the table for a specific holiday, remember that you can always include your preferences in the decor. For example, if you're adorning the table for Christmas, and your favorite color is purple, use purple garland to trim the table, and create a centerpiece by filling a large glass vase with purple holiday ornaments.
