Directions for a Krups Espresso Machine
- 1). Prepare to brew the espresso. To ensure that the espresso machine is clean and ready to go, remove the filter or coffee grounds "basket." This basket is usually found in the "brew head," with a handle that unlocks horizontially to the left. Make sure that the basket is empty, rinse it out with cold water and dry with a clean kitchen towel. Locate and open the water reservoir according to the directions for your specific machine. Pour the recommended amount of water into the reservoir and replace the top. Preheat your machine by turning it on. Preheat the espresso cup by placing it on the top of machine or by filling it with hot water.
- 2). Place the finely ground espresso into the coffee machine's basket. You may be using a prepackaged "pod" or loose espresso. If using the pod, just place the coffee in the basket, place the basket in the "brew head" and follow your machine's instructions to lock it safely into place. If using loose coffee, spoon the espresso into the basket, according to your machine's directions. Using the tamper or the back of a spoon, press the coffee firm into the basket. Clean the lip and outside of the basket. Place the basket in the brew head and lock it into place.
- 3). Brew the espresso according to your machine's directions. Place the empty, preheated espresso cup under the filter holder spigot. The espresso machine will begin to heat the water and run it through the coffee grounds. At this point, the aroma of freshly brewing coffee will drift from the machine, accompanied by steam and a bubbling, frothy sound of the espresso filling into the cup. Turn off the machine and enjoy your cup of espresso.
