How to Uninstall AVG

    • 1). Prepare a new antivirus program by downloading an installer on the Internet or buying the appropriate software CDs at a retail store.

    • 2). Disconnect your computer from the Internet. If you have a dial up connection, simply do not log on. For wireless computers, you can turn off the router. If you use a connection that is on all the time, unplug your ethernet cable.

    • 3). Click "Start," "Control Panel," and then "Add/Remove Programs" for computers running Windows XP or "Programs and Features" for those running Vista.

    • 4). Find AVG in the list of programs, right click it, and choose "Uninstall." Click "OK" and "Next" as necessary to proceed with the program's uninstaller.

    • 5). Click "Start," "My Computer," select your main hard drive, click "Program Files" and then move the folder for AVG to the recycle bin. (Right click on it and select "Delete.")

    • 6). Empty the recycle Bin. You can also delete any desktop shortcuts for AVG.

    • 7). Install your new antivirus program before reconnecting to the Internet.
