People want to be a part of something.
They want to belong.
They want to feel part of a team.
The Obama political machine encouraged everyone to be a part of change, Change is what this country was desiring.
And change is what he was selling.
He included the people who felt left out; the poor, the middle class, minorities, young voters.
He made sure that they felt important.
Everyone wants to be someone special and this crusade was brought to Americans and they embraced it with everything in them.
It did not matter what his background was, or what his beliefs were; he was leading and people followed by the millions.
According to Dictionary.
com, a leader is defined as: a guiding or directing head, as of an army, movement or political group.
Leadership is defined as; an act of guidance or direction.
Followers are; a person who follows another in regard to his or her ideas and belief; A disciple.
It was not Obama's belief in taxes, abortion, gay marriage or even the war that people were following.
It was his movement and belief in change and the ideal that everyone could be a part of it that people bought into.
They could join in a crusade and be a disciple of change.
The crusade is what won the election, not the man.
Just to explain my point further, I want to share something I heard right before the election.
A reporter from the Howard stern show was in Harlem interviewing people about the election.
He first asked who they were voting for and then asked them to explain why.
They answered Obama.
The reporter then asked them if they agreed with Obama's stand on abortion and the fact that he is pro-life and they agreed that abortion was wrong.
He then asked if they liked the fact that Obama chose Sarah Palin as his running mate and did they think she would make a good vice president.
They all answered yes.
Some of them even offered that they really liked her.
None of the people had a clue as to what Obama stood for.
They were voting for the crusade; not the issues.
Obama and his campaign did an unbelievable job of selling the crusade to the American people.
A crusade to make them part of history.
They fed the people a dream and the people were hungry and ate.
I really hope that as the hunger lingers, Obama can provide the meal.
Leadership requires the leader to affect human behavior to accomplish a mission.
He needs to influence a group of people towards goal setting and goal accomplishment.
He needs to deliver on his promises to his disciples.
Some of Obama's past includes a lot of traits of bad leadership, such as; being driven by unbridled ambition, associating with the wrong people, blaming others for his mistakes, changing his mind on important decisions depending on the scenario, being self-centered in his perspective and hiding or misinforming about truths and events.
Any and all of these characteristics will bring down the Obama machine if the disciples feel like they are the ones who have been deceived.
He has such an opportunity to actually create the change that he has promised.
I sincerely hope that he delivers it to all the people that bought into his crusade.
I am not sure what that change exactly consists of, but I am hoping that it is the good, honest change that everyone else was buying.
