Uses for Glycerin Soap

    • Glycerin soap softens the skin.natural soaps 3 image by samantha grandy from Fotolia.com

Glycerin soap is different from other soaps because, as the name implies, it contains glycerin, a colorless, sweet-tasting liquid that is hygroscopic, meaning that it absorbs water from the air. However, glycerin is a natural byproduct in soap production, so all soap is technically glycerin soap. Most mainstream soap-making companies have separated it out of their soap by the time they have the finished product.

    Personal Hygiene

    • The main use for glycerin soap is for personal hygiene. It cleans skin just as well as soap that has had the glycerin separated. It is a good choice for children, as it is very gentle and moisturizes the skin.

    Skin Moisturizer

    • People tend to use glycerin soap when they want to have softer skin. This soap cleans very gently, but because of its emollient nature, dissolves more quickly than soap without glycerin.

    Hobbies

    • Glycerin soaps are easy for the hobbyist to work with, so for anyone with a fondness for crafts and even cooking, glycerin soaps are good to work with at home. They melt at about 160 degrees Fahrenheit and are very malleable.
