Bluetooth Advertising for Affiliate Marketing

This might not be a step for an affiliate marketer starting up, but those people who have been making money affiliate marketing for years are always looking at new and advanced ways to spread their word and offers. Everyone working online, knows the mobile market is exploding with tablets and smartphones quickly being adopted by people. Marketers are always interested in growing technology and the mobile market is no different.

One of the newest ways of mobile marketing is through a device known as Bluetooth. Bluetooth is a technology that allows two devices to transmit wireless data to each other. You most often see Bluetooth used with cell phones. Have you ever seen one of those guys walking around with an ear piece and he seems to be talking to himself? Have you been that guy? Those headsets are usually connected to the cellphone via Bluetooth wireless technology. The phone is wirelessly communicating to the headset.

This Bluetooth technology actually makes for some interesting advertising opportunities. With smartphones blowing up and becoming standard fare, it is a great time to tap into this opportunity. All smartphones are programmed with Bluetooth, and quite often the Bluetooth is turned on standard. Here lies a potential advertising opportunity.

Bluetooth advertising works by first setting up a Bluetooth hub. You can set these up in any area, but choosing a well trafficked area is best. Many advertisers have had good success on University campuses for example. You set up the hub and whenever anyone comes by the hub (usually within 200-300 feet) they will be sent a query to find out if they want to learn more about your offer. If they confirm they do (opt in) they will receive your advertising, it can be a coupon, a coupon code, a link to a website etc…

One of the best ways to use a Bluetooth hub for affiliate or internet marketing is to bring it with you to a trade show - you can reach thousands of people this way, and if you target your offer to the theme of the show you will see great conversions.

The downside to this is a Bluetooth hub (or marketing device as they are also know as) can cost hundreds of dollars. The good news is that investment will give you what essentially amounts to a 24/7 salesperson that you can send anywhere! While this Bluetooth marketing might not be huge yet, it is growing and savvy web marketers as well as offline businesses would do well to pay attention!
