How to Start an Online Classroom
- 1). Pick a platform that will allow you to teach online. Free versions like Moodle can be hard to learn but easy on the pocketbook. Pay someone to host your classroom, and you can leave the technical support to someone else.
- 2). Create a lesson plan for online classes. Use hyperlinks in your course to allow online students to quickly navigate to online material. Engage your students with multimedia links that can be watched online.
- 3). Attract and enroll students to your online class. Promote a business with a free online conference. Seek out paying students for more academic purposes.
- 4). Hire online instructors. You will need to find individuals who are technically proficient and excellent online communicators. Check credentials to make sure your hires contribute a positive and professional image to your online classes.
- 5). Apply for IACET accreditation. Once you can prove that your scholastic program has lasting value, apply for accreditation so you can offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) online. Provide certificates for students that pass your class and can claim the CEUs.
