What You Can Do to Aid the Bedbug Exterminator

Bite Back at Those Unwelcome Visitors!

If you have been cursed with a bed bug infestation there are literally hundreds of companies online who provide these insect services. But before you go ahead and hire a bedbug exterminator in Bronx, here is a bit of information on bed bugs in general and what you should do to help the whole fumigation process.

First of all you will be asked to leave your home by the bedbug exterminator during the fumigation process. This can last for one to two hours, sometimes even for up to four hours. It all depends on the size of the house and the amount of infestation.

You will also need to remove any pets from the house during the time of fumigation except maybe fish. That's because the fish tank can be covered with a layer of plastic which will leave the harmful gasses out till the pumps are turned off.

You should also remove all sheets, linen and any other covers, especially in the bedroom. After removing the covers you will need to wash all bed linen in hot water. Remember to wait for atleast four hours after the treatment to replace the bed linens.

All mattresses or furniture that are damaged or are in poor condition and infested should be discarded. The bedbug exterminator in Bronx will also need to remove the backing from box springs in order to treat any harborage areas.

It is important to remove any and all personal belongings which also include clothes, shoes, toys, etc., from the area which is going to be fumigated.

Empty out the closets and drawers, also you will need to empty out the items from bookcases before the fumigation service.
After the fumigation treatment is complete you will need to wash all your clothes in hot water and store them in plastic bags for at least two weeks. If you have any stuffed toys or personal items that are fabric based, they will also need to be thoroughly cleaned out by using a pre-heated, hot dryer cycle for at least twenty minutes.

It is also important to vacuum the whole house including the carpeting, bedding, or any other areas bedbugs are seen.

To give the fumigation some time to work, don't shampoo or clean the carpets or floors for at least three weeks. You may however use a vacuum cleaner if you wish to.

Move all furniture away from the walls. The bedbug exterminator will also need to access all those areas like behind furniture and baseboards, etc. You can always reset the furniture after the fumigation process is over.

It will take atleast a couple of weeks for the fumigation service to be effective. After that time if the problem still persists you can always contact the insect services management office.
