How to Remove Excrement Stains From a Carpet
- 1). Scoop up as much of the excrement as possible. Use a plastic spoon or spatula to lift the excrement from the carpet. Take care not to spread the feces further into the carpet. Have a plastic bag handy for disposing of the feces.
- 2). Fill a bowl with 1 cup warm water. Add 1 tsp. clear bleach-free dish soap to the bowl. Stir the ingredients with a spoon to combine.
- 3). Dip a clean rag into the soapy water. Sponge the soapy water onto the carpet.
- 4). Allow the soapy water to remain on the carpet for five minutes. Blot the carpet with the rag, switching to clean portions of the rag as one becomes soiled, until no more feces transfers from the carpet to the rag.
- 5). Rinse the area with a rag and cold water to remove the soap from the carpet. Blot with a dry rag to remove excess moisture.
- 6). Mix 1/3 cup white vinegar and 2/3 cup cool water if the stain persists. Sponge the mixture onto the carpet using a clean rag.
- 7). Allow the mixture to sit on the carpet for five minutes. Blot with a clean rag to further lift the excrement stain.
- 8). Use ammonia as a last resort for tough-to-remove excrement stains. Mix 2 cups warm water and 1 cup ammonia into a bowl.
- 9). Saturate the carpet stain with the ammonia solution. Allow it to sit on the stain for about five minutes.
