How to Tie Rawhide Shoe Laces
- 1). Work the rawhide so that it is flexible. Rawhide is a leather material, so it requires a little rubbing and wadding to make it more flexible before it is ready to tie.
- 2). Tie the starting knot. Cross the left lace over the right lace. Double back in the opposite direction and slip the left lace under the right lace. Pull the knot tight.
- 3). Make a loop out of the right lace. Take the left lace around the right lace, starting behind the lace and working toward the front.
- 4). Slip the left lace through the hole made from wrapping around the right lace. The left lace will form a loop on the other side of the hole.
- 5). Pull the two loops until the knot is firmly tied. According to Ian's Shoelace Site, the standard knot is should end up even on both sides, which makes it stronger and less likely to come undone than the granny knot that forms by crossing the right lace over the left when forming the starting knot. If the laces are crooked, the starting knot was tied backwards and the laces will come undone easier.
