Herbal Remedies to Remove Facial Hair

    Green Sugar Wax

    • Green Sugar Wax is a mixture you can make right at home and the ingredients are quite simple. Start by bringing a half cup of filtered or mineral water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Turn the heat down to low. Add 2 cups of brown sugar (an organic brand), 2 tablespoons of fresh-squeezed organic lemon juice, and a half of cup of chamomile tea (steeped). Turn the heat up to medium and allow the mixture to cook. Stir frequently so that it doesn't stick. Bring to a boil and turn off.

Fill a bigger, shallow saucepan with water to the halfway point. Turn to high heat and bring to a boil. Place the smaller saucepan with the other ingredients into the bigger saucepan. Turn the heat to low. Continue to constantly stir the wax mixture, which should be a golden-brown liquid at this point. The mixture will start to bubble and become thin. Remove the saucepan with the wax mixture and set to the side. Pour a cup of the boiling water from the shallow pan into the wax mixture. Remove from heat and let it sit to become thicker. Once it wax looks and feels like honey, pour it into a bowl and let it cool. (Don't use a plastic bowl because it will melt.)

To do the waxing, you will need cotton strips, a wooden stick, oil, and baby powder. Coat the face with a thin layer of baby powder. The baby powder protects the skin from sticking wax. Make sure that the wax mixture is warm to the touch, but not too hot. Use the wooden stick to apply a thin coat of the mixture to the facial hair in the same direction of the hair growth. Cover the wax with a cotton strip. Press down on the cotton strip so that it is completely attached to the wax and no bulging is shown.

Prepare yourself and quickly remove the cotton strip, pulling from the lower end. The area should be hair free. Massage the area with a little baby oil and use the soothing spray.

    Green Soothing Spray

    • This soothing spray should be used after the waxing to soothe the skin and cut down on irritation. You'll need steeped green tea, steeped chamomile tea, aloe vera juice, calendula extract, peppermint essential oil and willow bark extract. All of these items can be purchased at a health store or online.

Add a half cup of the green tea, 1 cup of the chamomile tea, 2 tablespoons of the aloe vera juice, 1 teaspoon of the calendula, 5 drops of the peppermint oil and a half teaspoon of the willow bark to a plastic spray bottle and shake well. After use, refrigerate to keep fresh in between waxes.
