Doctors Recommend Hair Loss Help For Women

Upon hearing of female pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia diagnosis, many women scramble to find ways to regrow the hair they have lost and doctors recommend Minoxidil for women.
Minoxidil for women is a gentler proprietary blend than the same name brand for men.
Minoxidil is also called Rogaine, and has been used since 1988 for regrowing hair in both sexes.
The female version of this topical remedy is a 2% solution, whereas that male version is a 5% solution.
Many dermatologists have been recommending the male 5% solution to women for years, even though it has not been FDA approved for this use yet.
For female pattern baldness or hair loss, the 2% solution is suggested for women above the age of 18 who suffer from what is called Ludwig stage 1 or 2 hair loss, which is considered mild or moderate.
When using Minoxidil for women, there is normally a noticeable increase in hair inside of 8 weeks and the peak time for use and seeing results is about 16 weeks.
Therefore it reasons to believe that using the topical solution is no longer beneficial after 4 months of use.
It is not known at this time how this lotion works, but scientists believe that it reverses the miniaturization of hair follicles, and triggers the follicles in their latent phase of the cycle of hair growth into anagen which causes it to grow properly.
When using this solution for female pattern baldness, only 25 drops are to be used twice a day to work in the right way.
These drops have to be placed directly onto the dry scalp area where the baldness occurs and then rubbed in with the fingers.
No matter how bad a person thinks her baldness is, there should never be more than 50 drops a day applied.
This is due to side effects associated with use which include but are not limited to dryness, itching and other scalp irritations like scaling and redness.
A total of about 4% of all women who use Minoxidil have problems with hypertrichosis, which men do not have a problem with when using this product.
This means unwanted hair growth in areas such as the forehead and sides of the face occurs but can go away inside of a few months with treatment.
For women over the age of 50, hypertrichosis is a higher incidence; especially in those with facial hair or higher doses of the medication being used.
This topical medication should not be used by any woman who is pregnant or nursing, as it is shown to secrete into breast milk and can cause damage to the infant if transferred.
For women who are diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia, more natural means of stimulating follicles does exist.
Some systemic treatments that help the female body react normally to the androgen already in the body are commonly used.
These medications can be found in natural and drug included treatments.
