How to Install Rigid Board Insulation in a Basement

- 1). Measure the height and width of the spaces between the wall studs where you want to install the insulation.
- 2). Cut the panels of insulation to the dimensions you need.
- 3). Insert each of the panels in the spaces between the wall studs. They should fit snugly; if they do not, place an “S” of construction adhesive on the back of the panel with the caulking gun. Press the adhesive side of the panel against the wall between the studs. Continue this process for the remaining panels of insulation.
- 4). Place the polyethylene sheeting over the insulation panels and staple it to the wall studs.
