Urethane Foam Removal
- 1). Heat the urethane foam to soften it. According to Crosslink Technology, high heat will cause urethane molecules to break down, softening the foam and allowing you to gently scrape away the thick outer foam layers.
- 2). Cover all exposed areas that do not contain urethane foam with plastic. This keeps your working surfaces safe from spills that could damage certain materials.
- 3). Apply mineral spirits or urethane chemical remover to the base of the foam. Mineral spirits and urethane chemical removers soften the adhesiveness of urethane foam.. Allow to set for 15 minutes.
- 4). Wipe the surface area with a clean, dry cloth to remove loosened urethane. Not all of the adhesive will be removed, but a majority of it will come up easily.
- 5). Scrape off the remaining urethane with a putty scraper or knife. Gently run the the scraper or knife between the remaining adhesive and surface. Take extra care not to damage your working surface.
- 6). Wipe your finished surface with a damp cloth to clean the area.
