How to Mount a Flatscreen TV Over a Fireplace

    • 1). Place a thermometer on the mantle. Start a fire, and wait 30 minutes for the temperature to settle. If the temperature exceeds 90 degrees Fahrenheit, do not proceed with the installation.

    • 2). Locate a spot on the fireplace, so that the TV will be mounted as close to eye level as possible.

    • 3). Place the wall mount against the fireplace. Mark the four corner bolt locations through the mount using the tip of the masonry bit. The drilled locations must be on brick or stone and more that 1 1/2 inches from the edge of the material. Do not drill into mortar.

    • 4). Drill out the four marked locations. Tap the sleeve inserts into the brick, using a hammer, until they are flush with the brick.

    • 5). Place the wall mount against the fireplace and align with the inserts. Drive in the masonry screws and washers (included with the mount) using a Philips bit and drill.

    • 6). Place the TV bracket against the back of the flat panel. Drive the included bolts and washers through the slots into the threaded inserts on the back of the set. Tighten them with the supplied wrench.

    • 7). Lift the set onto the wall bracket. Tighten any security screws to prevent unwanted movement while the set is on the bracket.
