HOF - Hall of Fame?
Hof is a beautiful little town in Bavaria.
It has gained international renown due to the "Hofer Filmtage", a film festival similar to the one in Berlin, but it's a more familial atmosphere there in Hof.
Unfortunately, I missed the festival, but trust me, there's a lot more to see in Hof than just films.
The weather was really fine, so I walked around the town and saw some of the main attractions like the botanical garden, the Bismarckturm, and the old railway station.
The hotel I stayed at was family-operated and pretty cute.
Located near the city center, the rooms were surprisingly quiet, pretty big and I had a kitchenette in my room of which I made use the first day.
I cooked some Bratwurst, a Bavarian sausage specialty with some tasty sauerkraut.
The room was also equipped with a modern flatscreen (they provided payTV for free! So actually it wasn't payTV anymore at all!) and a minibar.
So guess what I did in the evening.
The next day, I had a fantastic breakfast which saved me from sleeping until noon and after work, I left for Nuremberg.
This is a great city with a lot of German history.
I found out that it was one of the most important merchant cities in the Middle Age, and that Hitler held his party conventions there during the Nazi era.
Nowadays, fortunately, Nuremberg is rather known for high-class soccer and hockey.
I watched a match of the Nuremberg Icetigers against a really silly team called Ingolstadt or so.
Darn, Ingolstadt really sucked.
Never seen so many fouls and aggressive players.
Also the fans of Ingolstadt went crazy.
Also some big companies like Bosch, Siemens, Adidas, Grundig, Puma or Areva have big subsidiaries in or near Nuremberg.
Back in Hotel Hof, I decided to have dinner with some German colleagues in a restaurant the reception clerk proposed us.
It was really yummy: great German food and Bavarian beer again!
