Fleas are one of the major reasons why hundreds of animals die each year.
When you own a pet, you just cannot ignore the fact that insects, as tiny as they may seem, can lead your pet to a slow and painful death.
They not only affect the pet but also the people around by biting humans and causing pain and itches.
There are several ways to keep your pet and yourself safe from these fleas.
There are a lot of products and chemicals available in the stores for flea control.
While, some are quite cheap; some are pretty expensive.
There are also some natural ways available for flea control.
Products available in the market Some available products for flea control include Sprays, drops, chemicals, flea collars, flea combs, flea dip, flea bombs, anti-flea powders, bath detergents and shampoos.
While some are to be used in small quantities; others are used in bigger quantity which makes them unsuitable for puppies and kittens.
So, choose wisely when getting any of these above mentioned products.
Natural Ways to control Fleas Natural ways for controlling fleas can range from using only one item to a combination of a few.
One thing to be noted here is, Fleas can survive in extreme conditions which enables them to stay alive in summers and winters as well.
Common kitchen items used to kill fleas are Ginger, Vinegar and water etc.
Keep the environment clean The environment in which the pet lives also plays a very important role if flea control.
A few precautionary steps would be:
  • Never let the pet stay outside.
  • Do not let them play with other pets that you think might be infected.
  • Keep the carpets clean.
  • If you use a blanket for your pet; get washed every week or so.
