Alexandria hosts two free outdoor movie series during the summer months: the Comcast Outdoor Film Festival and Movies Under the Stars. Bring a blanket to enjoy free movies in the heart of Northern Virginia. See the details and plan a family-friendly evening. Moviegoers are encouraged to come early and enjoy food from vendors such as Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, Chick-Fil-A and Domino's Pizza. 2015 Comcast Outdoor Film Festival
A portion of the food sales will benefit Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington, Alexandria Chapter which is a non-profit organization in the City of Alexandria that instills character and leadership development, health and life skills, a sense of belonging and confidence for youth in the City of Alexandria.
Dates and Time: July 17 - 18, 2015, 8:30 p.m. - Park gates open at 7 p.m.

Visitors to the historic district are encouraged bike, walk or take Metro to the King Street Station and take King Street Trolley to the festival. The free King Street Trolley will operate between the waterfront and the King Street Metro until midnight.

- Friday, July 17 - How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) Rated PG. The 3D computer-animated action fantasy film features Hiccup and his friends as young adults as they meet Valka, Hiccup's long-lost mother, and Drago Bludvist, a madman who wants to conquer the world.
- Saturday, July 18 - X-Men - Days of Future Past (2014) Rated PG-13. The superhero film based on the fictional X-Men characters that appear in Marvel Comics, focuses on two time periods and Wolverine going to 1973 to save the future of mankind.
