How to Travel With a 3-Tiered Fondant Cake

    • 1). Prepare your cake for travel. Place your three-tiered cake into a cake box, if possible. If the cake is heavily embellished, or if the tiers are to be situated on pillars, place each tier into a separate box and reassemble it at your destination. Alternatively, you may need to place your cake's tiers into pans. Keep everything you need to decorate or touch-up your cake in a separate box and take it with you.

    • 2). Prepare your vehicle for the cake. Your vehicle must be cool enough to prevent the cake from melting and have enough flat floor room to accommodate the cake's size. Clean out the vehicle and place a quantity of foam matting evenly on the floor. Place the whole cake or cake tiers gently onto the matting.

    • 3). Pick the shortest route to your destination. Your route should preferably be as smooth as possible to prevent jostling or otherwise disturbing your cake. Choose a time to leave when there is little traffic to get in your way. Remember that your cake is a very delicate passenger. Allow yourself enough time to drive slowly and carefully.
