How to Keep My Outdoor Fountain Clean
- 1). Empty the water out of the fountain reservoir.
- 2). Pull the pump out of the fountain--disconnecting tubing if necessary to do so--and wipe it clean with a dry cloth. Remove any residue or build-up from the pump with the cloth.
- 3). Remove the pump cover and wipe down the interior of the pump too. Don't take its components apart. Clean any hard to reach components with an old toothbrush.
- 4). Pick any large chunks of debris out of the pump reservoir by hand.
- 5). Brush the fountain reservoir surface with a clean, stiff nylon brush. Follow with a clean cloth to remove any small, lingering bits of debris.
- 6). Use a minimal amount of bleach, if necessary, to remove any algae present in the fountain reservoir.
