Last year, for the first time in the 70-year history of AARS, a landscape shrub rose was named a winner. Carefree Spirit shown as a no fungicide sprays, no problem rose. In 2004, AARS completely stopped spraying fungicides on all shrub rose candidates, to get a truer sense of their maintenance requirements in a home garden setting. Carefree Spirit was the first to ace the test.
