Fishing in Ewa Beach, Hawaii

    Shorecasting

    • Shorecasting casts your line into the reef from shore to catch papio, ulua and moi of small to medium sizes. Popular shorecasting spots in Ewa Beach are Hau Bush and Iroquois Point.

    Kayak Trolling

    • The sand bar just past the first reef is a good place to kayak out and drop a line to troll. You may catch papio, aawaawa or ono to haul back to shore.

    Spear Fishing

    • Scuba and free divers can find larger fish to spear starting only 100 feet off shore in some areas off of Ewa Beach Road and Hau Bush.

    Dunking

    • Dunking plants your fishing rod on shore and takes the bait out past the reef via kayak, surfboard or boat for larger fish such as large oio, ulua and the occasional tiger shark.

    Fishing License

    • There are no fishing license required for salt water fishing off of Ewa Beach. Just keep your casts clear of surfers and swimmers.
