So, you have a mini-lathe. Now, what do you do with it? There are many projects that can be made using the mini-lathe such as telescope mounts, clocks, rocket parts and rotary tables. Start with these simple projects and get new ideas or expand on the ones presented. Have fun and get creative.

    Tool Holder

    • Making tools and tool holders is a great part of owning a mini-lathe. Holes drilled into the stock can be fitted for certain tools and tool sizes. Another quick project is a dial-gauge holder. It can be fitted to measure drilling depth. Tool holders can be made to fasten close to the work area to keep common tools close at hand.

    Rotary Table

    • This project can be as simple or complex as desired. The table could have clamping devices, could be freewheeling or could use a gear system with stops. A motor can be used to move the table with the gears.

    Rocket Parts

    • The mini-lathe can be used to make solid fuel rocket motors, the nozzles or body. A rocket launch station is a project for the hobbyist. Rocket plane parts could be made in the same way depending on the vision of the craftsman. Don't be afraid of changing ideas. The rocket fuselage project that did not come out as expected could easily become a flute or clothes rack with the right vision.
