- 1). Measure your room and purchase at least five extra square feet of plastic moisture barrier and foam insulation for laminate flooring.
- 2). Unroll a strip of plastic moisture barrier from one edge of the room you want to install flooring in to the other edge. Cut the barrier right at the edge where you finish. Continue laying strips while overlapping the edges of each strip until you fill up the room. Trip the strips with a utility knife as needed.
- 3). Unroll a strip of foam insulation and trim it off at the edge. Continue by laying another strip of insulation when you finish covering your first strip with laminate floor boards. Repeat this process as necessary until you have finished the entire floor.
