How to Get the Android Garage Door Opener App to Work
- 1). Install the communication device according to the manufacturer's instructions. The simplest devices require the connection of just a couple wires. If you have a Craftsman garage door opener, it must have AssureLink Connectivity to use the official app. If you have a LiftMaster opener, it needs to be MyQ-enabled.
- 2). Download the app to your Android phone. Unlock your phone and open the application launcher. Tap the "Market" app and touch the magnifying glass. Type the name of your garage door opener app and press "Enter." Tap the listing for the app and press the blue button. If the app is free, the button will say "Free." Otherwise it will show the price. Tap "Accept and Download" and wait for the app to install on your device.
- 3). Connect your phone to the communication device. If it's a Bluetooth device, press the pairing button on the device. Tap "Settings" on your Android phone and touch "Wireless and Networks." Tap "Bluetooth Settings" and touch the box next to "Bluetooth." Touch "Scan Devices" when it locates your garage door opener, then tap the listing to pair it to your phone. If you are using Wi-Fi, ensure that both your phone and the device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- 4). Press the "Home" button on your Android and open the Application launcher. Touch the icon for your garage door opener app. Log in and press the "Open" button to open your garage door.
