How Hair Loss is Affecting Your Job

In these days of economic upheaval and massive layoffs you need to do everything possible to ensure you don't get the pink slip.
Or, if you already have been laid off, you must find every way possible to jump to the head of the line for that new position.
Your appearance can have a dramatic influence on your success in business, both how you dress and how you look.
Can you afford not to  do everything in your control when it comes to looking your best? If you aren't convinced that appearance makes a difference, just look around at your company.
Who gets promoted into the vice-president jobs? Is it the bald, slightly overweight guy who knows everything about running the company? I doubt it.
I bet it is the young guy who dresses real sharp and cares more about how he looks in the mirror than whether the next deadline will be met.
Let's face it, success is based on looks not skills and you need to do everything you can to appear younger and more powerful if you want to keep your job or find a new one.
This includes dealing with your hair loss.
There are all kinds of treatments and procedures available to get your hair back and make you look younger again.
The FDA has licensed two drugs for the treatment of hair loss.
Minoxidil marketed as Rogaine by Upjohn and Finasteride marketed as Propecia and Proscar by Merck.
Both of these have shown hair growth in men during scientific trials.
The first treatment, minoxidil, with the brand name Rogaine was actually originally marketed as a method to lower high blood pressure.
During clinical trials it was also found to increase hair growth in some men.
In one study 42% of men with hair loss in the frontal scalp area saw increased hair growth in 48 weeks.
The nice thing about this treatment is it can be purchased over the counter without a prescription.
For a fairly low cost method this is well worth looking in to.
The second drug, finasteride, sold by the Merck Co.
as either Propecia or Proscar is taken orally in pill form.
Originally marketed as a treatment for enlarged prostrate the side benefit of hair re-growth was quickly realized.
In one study 9 out of 10 men showed improvement in stopping hair loss or increasing hair growth.
Propecia is sold only by prescription so it requires a visit to your doctor if you want to try it out.
This treatment is not recommended for women who are or may become pregnant because there may be a possibility of birth defects.
Some post-menopause women have been prescribed the drug with mixed results.
These are only two of the treatments available to fight hair loss.
Of the two only Rogaine is an over the counter product but the results were less dramatic than Propecia.
According to a Hair Replacement Clinic in Florida even with the economic problems facing us they are seeing record numbers of men requesting information on hair restoration.
Why the massive traffic when budgets are so tight? These men realize that the current job market is a war zone and they have to bring every weapon at their disposal to the battle.
This includes how old they appear to the bosses or job recruiters.
If you are experiencing hair loss you owe it to yourself to look into these treatments.
Some economists are predicting we may see unemployment levels in the 10% range for the next decade.
With those kinds of numbers you need to do everything possible to look your best and most powerful.
The reality is a thick head of hair equals a powerful look in this society.
