Video: How to Make Fondant Lace Texture

Video Transcript

Hi, my name is Porsha Kimble, your ¡°Cake Diva.¡± And today, I¡¯m going to show you how to make fondant lace texture. To get that lace textured look on your fondant, what you¡¯ll want to do is roll out a thin amount of fondant. Of course, the thinner the better. That way, it will take to any texture that you¡¯re going to use. You can get a texture mat at any local cake supply store in your area. They¡¯ll have a variety for you to choose from, or you can go online. But today, I¡¯m going to try something new. I¡¯m actually going to use a stencil. Most people have never used this technique, but I like it because it¡¯s very larger and I can cover a big area in one time. So, I¡¯m going to take my stencil here, place it up against my fondant. I¡¯m going to use a small rolling pin, and I¡¯m going to press down firmly. Now, when you press down, you¡¯re going to want to make sure that your stencil doesn¡¯t move. That way, it doesn¡¯t create a pattern that¡¯s mimicked. Once I¡¯m done, I¡¯m going to pull up my stencil, and then I¡¯m going to have the lace textured look that I¡¯m going for on my cake.
