Leader and leadership skills

Some leaders are by birth and there are some individuals who nurture themselves over the period of time through training, become leader. For some, leading a team is a fun, while some find themselves in uncomfortable situation. Leaders may be in different area to play a role, such as politics, corporate, but leadership skills remain almost constant, however their way of doing things may be different.

 Now the question is, how one becomes a leader and one remains a follower, or are there any skills which turned individual into a leader. One thing is certain that leaders possess unique skills which distinguish them from their followers. 

 I see that a leader is the great thinker with positive attitude, and second thing which differentiate them from there followers, is setting example. There can be so many ways to set the example. A leader can differentiate themselves form others, being honest, committed, dedicated and these strength earn the respects for them. Earning a respect is indispensible for leader, to stay for long term. However, one can argue that earning respect is not essential in corporate world, but corporate leader are mere boss, however exception exist.

 A leader can set an example by going extra mile to show its commitment and dedication. For instance, a store manager in supermarket can work as hard as General Assistant or should be ready to do everything whatever it expects from its team.

 Leaders should be well informed and update, no matter the field in which they are. A well informed individual has an ability to guide the people in better way as compare to under inform. In this case, there is always a possibility for individual to update himself or herself.

 Further, one of important quality, a leader should be the able, to read the mind of people around them or understanding other's feeling. Understanding people, by putting own self in another's shoes is also very important skills, it worked as prerequisite for effective communication and delivering the right message to team. One can use the feedback as a tool for understanding of people around it.

 Moreover, proactivity and taking initiative is the two very important element of leadership. Proactivity is indeed making a difference in individual and offers the edge over the others. Proactivity, anticipating thing in advance , taking step in advance, all these are key to success in competitive world. A leader should go extra mile and should take initiative, which motivate and inspire the team, eventually it gives a confidence for team and team shows the confidence in their leader.

 There can be a lot more skills such as quick decision making, problem solving ability but over the period of time, a leader can face different type of circumstances and situation, therefore it is not always possible that one can be a successful leaders with the help of permanent set of skills. In such an unpredictable situation, only individuals those are great thinker with flexible and positive attitude, commitment and dedication. It is the dedication and positive attitude which motivates the individual to find a solution at any point of time, and turn them successful leaders.
