Prefab Construction Techniques

    Design

    • Prefab houses come in standard templates, predesigned. This means no time is spent actually designing the house unless it is a custom building. These standard house patterns also cut the cost of building materials which are saved at the manufacturing factories.

    Indoor Construction

    • Because the modules are typically standardized, the actual construction is routine and can be put together like an assembly process. Construction in a factory-like setting also eliminates problems with weather.

    Simultaneous Construction

    • An on-site built home requires subsequent steps before the house can be built. A roof cannot be laid until the walls are up. Walls cannot be built until the foundation is ready. At a prefab construction factory, the floors, walls, roof, can be built separately. When they are finished they are put together like puzzle pieces.
