DIY Nightstand Painting
- 1). Place the nightstand on a drop cloth or tarp to make clean-up easier. Put on a dust mask and protective glasses.
- 2). Fit a palm sander with 100-grit sandpaper. Sand all reachable surfaces, keeping the sander moving in a circular motion to avoid burning the nightstand. Sand difficult-to-reach places by hand, and wipe the nightstand clean with a dry cloth or brush. Repeat the sanding process with 150-grit sandpaper and wipe the nightstand clean when finished.
- 3). Prime the nightstand with spray-on latex primer. Hold the nozzle about 1 foot away from the surface, and spray the first coat very lightly. Allow the nightstand to dry for an hour, and then apply two more coats of primer. Let the nightstand dry for an hour after each primer application.
- 4). Paint the primed nightstand with semi-gloss latex paint. Stir the paint well before application. Apply a very thin first coat so the primer still shows through. Allow the paint to dry for an hour. Apply two more thin coats, allowing the paint to dry for an hour after applying each coat.
