40 Love Courture: Custom Ordered for the Sophisticated Woman.

High cost of production has caused many companies to produce abroad, but 40 Love Courture designer keeps her product close and under her
watchful eye.

40 Love Courture bags are made in Colorado. Liz Waggoner, owner and designer, said that because her bags are made in the United States, each one can be made to order. Customizable features include fabric, lining, trim and monogramming.

"We have even turned our six-pack tournament bag into a 12-pack," she said. "If you want it, we can do it."

All 40 Love Courture bags have Swarovski accents and customers can request Swarovski monogramming.

"Our client is the sophisticated woman who understands the value of a well-made bag," Waggoner said. "She wants to stand out from the crowd, she wants something different."

Waggoner said that function and durability are the most important elements in designing her bags, followed closely by fashion and she calls 40 Love Courture bags "a lifetime bag."

"If you treat it right, it will be the last bag you need to buy."
Waggoner started the company in 2007 when she noticed on vacation that there was an absence of stylish women's and children's bags.

"All the resorts and pro-shops were carrying the same vinyl bags," Waggoner said. "The logos and colors were different, but the bags were the same."

Before the birth of 40 Love Courture, Waggoner said she had a hounds tooth Jet backpack and received several compliments because it was different. The response inspired her to action.

"I decided it would be fun to combine my love of tennis and my fetish for great handbags to come up with a unique line of tennis bags," Waggoner said. "I just knew that there had to be many other women out there craving something different."

Waggoner said she carries the large tote because it can go from the court to the office; however the large backpack is the number one seller.

She also said that she is very excited about the new Hobo bag because "it will go from the court to out on the town."

Waggoner said she has always loved fashion and designing tennis bags is an outlet for those passions. While she has no designing background, she derives inspiration from designs by Kate Spade, Jimmy Cho and Hermes.

"Like these designers, I like to incorporate bright colors, textures and fabrics into my bags," she said.

Waggoner begins by designing the style, selecting the fabrics and embellishments herself. She then meets with her production manager, Bonnie Rodriguez, and together they bring the bag to life.

40 Love Courture bags are marketed to high-end resorts and exclusive country clubs around the world but are also available on-line.

"Every bag is inspected before it leaves the studio," Waggoner said. "If it isn't perfect, we start over until it is."

Waggoner plays competitive league tennis and her two boys, Hunt and Miles were very active in the tennis community.

"We were a bit obsessed," Waggoner said. "We watched a lot of tennis on television and attended many professional tournaments around the country."

She said they competed in tournaments seven days a week, 12 months out of the year.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend, right up there with a designer who understands the rigorous demands of a woman's busy life, 40 Love Courture bags are designed by such a woman.
