The New Job Security
Just over a year ago, I was comfortably working my way towards retirement in a career with great pay and benefits.
I was convinced I would be in that career until I was ready for retirement.
Like hundreds of thousands of others, I was sadly mistaken.
On October 13, 2009, I officially bade farewell to the old definition of job security.
Being permanently laid off turned out to be a great blessing.
It opened my eyes to a whole new world of opportunities that I would have never considered before.
A world filled with incredibly prosperous opportunities.
Under the old definition of job security, it was safe to get a solid education and settle in with an organization until retirement.
Going into business for yourself was considered very risky.
But, there is a new definition of job security.
In today's world, the safe route is actually working for yourself, while the risky path is working for a corporation.
When I think about the amount of taxes that I paid out during my 'career', it almost makes me ill.
The tax advantages of working for yourself alone, make entrepreneurship very appealing.
The age of the internet has evened the playing field when it comes to small business competing against the big corporations.
Social media marketing makes is affordable for small businesses to take on the big guns.
The day of large corporations is giving way to the age of independent contractors and self-employed entrepreneurs.
Home-based businesses are among the fastest growing segments in the current economy and that trend is destined to continue.
The direct selling industry (or network marketing or mlm) in particular, is flourishing and offers unprecedented opportunities to almost anyone willing to take on the challenge.
What this means is that instead of the rich getting richer, there are more people getting rich.
In his book, "The Next Millionaires", Paul Zane Pilzer predicts that there will be ten million new millionaires between 2006 and 2016 and he suggests that this is a conservative forecast.
What would you rather do:
I'll take option number two, thank you very much.
Pilzer further explains that network marketing (or direct selling), and in particular, the health and wellness industry, is the perfect vehicle for attaining new wealth.
The companies that are prospering are those that have incorporated a business model that focuses on independent distributors educating consumers on new products and services that will improve their lives.
