How to Get Rid of Garter Snakes

Garter snakes like to live in warm climates, such as a garden.
So be careful when you go out to your garden.
They are not poisonous, but they will most likely scare you half to death, and they are a bother.
Here are some ways to get rid of them.
Cut Your Grass You should keep your grass cut, the tall grass makes it easier for the snakes to hide.
You should keep your grass at about two inches or shorter.
Also to keep the snakes out of your yard from your neighbors yard, you should put boards up around your fence line.
Bushes A great way to get rid of garter snakes, or to make sure they do not take residence at your home is to get rid of your bushes and shrubs.
Get rid of the heavy ones that grow close to the ground, because these provide the best cover for the garter snake.
If you do want to have bushes and shrubs around your house, get ones that grow high off the ground and do not put stuff under them like mulch.
Pest Control Using regular pest control is a great way to get rid of garter snakes.
Since the snake's diet consists of insects, earthworms, etc.
, controlling these pest would get rid of your garter snake problem.
Also the use of mothballs are effective when getting rid of garter snakes.
Mothballs are toxic to your children, so you will want to take any precaution if you decide to use mothballs.
Catch and Remove One effective way to get rid of those pesky snakes is to catch them and remove them yourself.
This is safe to do since they are not poisonous.
If you do get bit, your skin will turn red and you may feel some irritation.
One suggestion is the use of glue traps which is usually used to catch small rats.
After you catch the snake you can either kill it, or simply remove it far away from your house.
Be sure to wear work gloves to protect your skin against a bite.
