How Do You Vacuum Your Rug?

So you might be thinking to yourself, what a silly topic. Depending on how serious you take your cleaning and how neat you like your carpets to look there absolutely is a right and wrong way to vacuum a rug.

If you prefer to be more laid back on your cleaning and the look of your carpet, you may choose to just jump in and start vacuuming right away. Some people jump from section to section and not care about the directions of their lines or if they go over the same spot twice. Those of us with children who have chores of their own are used to this method. Two passes on the entire floor and they think that they are done.

For some, vacuuming is a very time consuming and peaceful activity. These people who are more concerned with the look and perfectionism of their carpets and vacuuming skills tend to look at things carefully before starting.

This person will take time to move all furniture around and or out of the room that they intend to vacuum. Next they will pick up and large pieces of debris lying on the floor so as not to clog their vacuum. Next they will usually take the vacuum attachments and go around the edges of the room and along the molding to make sure that every piece of that room has been cleaned.

The next task for them is to find the outlet that allows them to vacuum their room without having to drag the cord long distances. This is an important step because finding a close plug will decrease changes for knocking items over and breaking them. This allows for the person to move about freely when vacuuming and allows them to vacuum each spot without having to wind up the cord each time they move.

Next is to plan out exactly where you are going to start vacuuming. For most, starting at the top of the room and slowly moving back toward the doorway is the most convenient. This will allow the person to make slow concentrated glides with the vacuum over each spot evenly. Some people prefer not to over vacuum their carpets and just go over each spot once time very methodically.

Sometimes, people will notice that their carpets are heavily soiled in certain areas. This is usually when they will decide to treat the spot with a spot remover or some type of spray to help break up the stain. Usually the spray will be able to break up the stain enough so that it is able to be vacuumed and not steam cleaned. However, if the spot is a tough one, a steam cleaning may be necessary.

In closing, you can see that there are so many different methods on how people like to vacuum their carpets. Depending on the type of room, carpet and cleaning you prefer deciding on which method works is of course always best. Happy vacuuming.
